I'm surrounded by these strangers
Though they say that they know me
I don't feel that I'm in danger
Well maybe to a slight degree

They also say they know my name
Even that I struggle with
It's gotten worse as of late
The older that I get

I have heard the whispers
And rumors going round
Speaking of dementia
But not who they seem to be talking about

I have asked the ghosts if they know
That visit when the others have gone
We carry on conversations
Just them and me alone

I shuffle the halls and scratch the walls
Hoping they could offer something
Only if those walls could talk
But some folk aren't that lucky

Here I am at it again
With the same strangers from yesterday
No idea of why they keep coming back
As I sit here and stare off into space
