I write, shrouded by smoke,
The lighter flickers, lighting my room.
Your presence in this ritual I try to invoke,
Yet my mind drifts back to you.

I miss you like my lungs miss nicotine,
I miss you like the earth craves the rain.
I stop myself from wondering what could have beenβ€”
Without you, I’m not sure I can love again.
