Michael  Holly  Barrett's
poetry it's like driving in
the forest on a Summers
day, but wishing Winter.

Be it the latter, I could turn
the windscreen wipers on,
then swipe the glass clean
of insects and bird splatter.

But I am not in my van, I'm
at the computer using my
index finger to speck check,
is it a fly mark or punctuation?

I soldiered on when hope was gone ,
Trance fixed  by a light shining , so brightly.
Almost deaf and nearly blinded,
I moth shuffled on, determined to find it.

An angelic cherub, landed on my shoulder
His little finger ,he pointed.
It was a heavenly light of Bethlehem,
Christmas night , l became so excited.

I stumbled and fell three times,
I was my fathers son, the chosen one
born to carry that cross
I would find my path, and the idiot.

Who left on the Hall light, all night
I'll find him, and I did , and told him
We'd put this episode behind us,
but then, went back to bed, and forgot
to put off the Hall light again.
