If there's a lie
To be told
I'll tell it by
This old fishing hole

About the size
Of my latest catch
And how it broke
My steel cast net

And how I jumped
In the water deep
To not let it
Get the best of me

Wrestling that fish
Up to the shore
About the size
Of a compact car

And then when
The whole town came out
Where I fed them all
Hand to mouth

They had their fill
And enough to save
Another meal
For another day

I insist
All this went on
The other day
By the fishing hole

Most everyday
It's what I do
To tell the truth
Would I lie to you
