I was unlovable,
I know.
But she's the only one
Who proved me wrong

"Ma chérie," she called me.
"You are the sweetest thing!"
"You must be kidding," I said
"I am as bitter as a chord."

"Or bittersweet, perhaps."
Goodness,
How she saw good in everyone,
Even me.

I was beautiful,
I was wonderful,
At least I was in her eyes.
To her, I seemed like the best thing in her life.

But it wasn't true,
I'm useless, and I regret it.
How come she's in my life,
When I don't deserve it?
"Maybe it's a trick," I thought.
"Something fate may have against me?"
The second of my series, "The Heartaches". Don't mind the fact that the 1st-3rd poems are posted on the same day- these poems have been laying around in my notes app since September 7
