Inspired song If you could read my mind By Gordon Lightfoot
When I was at the University, clichés were drilled in our head as faux pas A respectable poet does not put in poetry. As an older student who always questioned absolutes, I had to ask why? What about free verse poetry I was told even in the lack of structure is structure it depends on what kind of poet you want to be I considered the source. My professors all had 10 year. In both American and British literature . I heard the phrase many times in these classes; rules are not meant to be broken. But the whole purpose of traditional poetry is that there are rules that make each type of poem what it is. That’s why I love poetry, The structure. But it is good to be bad sometimes lol This is my rebellion poem I’m letting my freak flag fly😎
