Winds think they have
Won when yachts lower
Their sails or when socks
Sag or when weather vanes
Stand still or when eagles
Land or when clouds pause
Or when the barley stops
Shaking or when it’s deemed
unnecessary to wet ones finger
Or when white kites fall.

But embers require no fanning
For smoke to signal the rising
Of a seriously wounded Phoenix!
