you wanted me
and i had you

we were tangible,
but we were flammable

i was careful,
but not careful enough

our connection,
was like playing with fire

you had it
or you didn't
there was no in between

we were too hot to hold,
now so cold to the touch

hands, where flames once ignited,
now frostbitten fingertips

i thought i knew you, darling
but suddenly we grew

a p a r t . . .
