What downtrodden trails
Have I failed
To get paved
What uplifting travails
Upon my heart engraved
Have all made out
Like bandits,
Like hopeless romantics
Like kings and queens gambits
And Goldilocks planets
Beholden
To therein
The sunset is glimpsed
In ephemeral remnants
Of vacated bliss
