We all want it to be
'remember when we'
but sadly
the we who were are
no longer there,
there's only me.

I had friends and
I
'remember when we'
but they are no longer here
there is only me.

Now
I watch repeats on the black and white
at the old codgers' retreat and
sometimes I sit up all night when I
can't sleep because I can hear them calling
every time that I fall into bed,

but it's only me and the thoughts that
grow old in my head.
