When the lights lit out because I couldn't pay for the electricity.

funny how being in the dark makes you believe that you've been sidelined,

I wined her and dined her by moonlight
hoping that she'd want to stay for the night,
she said, not a chance,
but we danced to the sounds of a big band
until I saw the band on the finger of her left hand.

life is peculiar
or perhaps we are.
