By the tower she sits waiting for her love
every night for the last two years
it breaks my heart to see her cry
I so feel sorry for her sad malady

Each night when I was on guard duty
she would be waiting and weeping
then at midnight she'd lower her head
and by the chimes of the church bell
she would slowly walk into the night
I'd walk over to where she had stood
and there on the ground would be a red rose
I would pick them up and put them to my nose
I could smell her salty tears on the petals
where she had stood I would stand until dawn
hoping her warrior would return
