Feeling the cold, hard slab of rock against my bare feet, I look up to seek light, But there's nothing but darkness,
Affliction fills my entire being.
I fall to my knees and lay in my despair, I am alone. The realisation declares war on my thoughts, Without hesitation, I surrender and admit defeat. As the white flag waves me away, I begin to crawl, Searching, longing to find strength, I need to get up, But my body is weak, almost lifeless. It's a fight I never had a chance of winning.
This poem is based on my true feelings as I go through what feels like one of the most painful times in my life.
