If the world is constantly changing
how come
it's the same old same?

I hear it time after time and
after that, I stop listening
and start thinking about
negative equity.

fingertips hanging on to
and
holding on by
a thread,
the
cotton wool bud that
separates
the living from the dead

and we're spinning yarns
about good times
and good times
and good job
I
stopped listening,
but
I'm still living
and getting to be
good at it

practice makes perfect
and
it also tires you out.
