As I sit in the car on injury duty
blowing AC in 90 degrees
reading poetry, listening to jazz music,
the youth plays 5on5.
I can’t help but
notice how fun the game
of basketball is when you don’t
take every possession seriously.
They play with full energy.
Meet new friends.
All sorts of ethnicity background
stories on one 90ft court.

Meanwhile,
I can’t shake the feeling
that I’m supposed to be
worshiping the Lord
in church tonight.

P.S.- Forgive me Father
Nights like this
