Monday
drops in through the letterbox
I put on a pair of odd socks
while thinking about the weekend
and how it wasn't long enough,

the bedroom clock's reading four?

what the *** is a clock reading for?

blip
blip

only a brain slip
back into gear.

we're past the halfway mark
it's getting darker earlier
and lighter later,

this year
unlike the weekend
has lasted long enough.

Realisations.

coffee doesn't work until it's topped up
I can't work unless I'm propped up with
several cups of coffee that are topped up
and
the weekends are never ever long enough.
