They knew they could count on the man
to take the fall,
take the blame,
take the blade
on his wrists,
to work to death,
the whip on his back,
put the rope round his neck,
take a bullet in the chest,
to live on the street,
to drown with the rest.
Yet they say the man
can't be trusted.
