Envisage

Envisage being caged,

could be in a prison or it

might be in the wrong body

or with the wrong person.

But what if it was none of

those, yet you felt snared

just as a rabbit with a noose

round its neck or leg and no

way of escaping, trapped.

It might be a job in a factory

or a flat in a high-rise block.

It could be an addiction, to

drugs, alcohol even gambling.

What if one was dyslexic and

Autistic and incontinent and in

A wheelchair and blind and

Deaf and a schizophrenic.

Imagine being a foetus and

because of all the above you

didn’t want to be born, but,

your mother was opposed

to abortion.

Yet, what if science and

medicine advanced and

everything could be fixed

by the time you were born?

But your mum left Texas!
