Intensive care unit
The last step in a ladder
Going to fold forever
A definite indicator

Time to say goodbye
To those who will join you later
Going away earlier
Order of preference not clear

A better day today
Sick people fighting fate
The doctors giving them hope
More days in the universe

Natural form of living
All but gone and clinging
Machines and medicines
to do the trick

Only pain and misery
Old and weary
Their plight raises a question
Crisis of conscience

Lying in the bed with
Faculties not functioning
Organs in a race to stop performing
Beyond the line is it worth continuing
Complete the rest of the sentence as Sick

Medicines and injections
Machines and methods
Adopted with difficulty
Adapted for longevity

Should I hope they survive
Should I want them to loose the drive
Living now no more living
Going through motions awaiting day of reckoning

Lying in the bed with
Faculties not functioning
Organs in a race to stop performing
Beyond the line is it worth continuing

Is it empathy at play
Or plain easy to say
Wait for God to have his way
He will anyway

Joy of living
Fear of dying
Fatigued with disappointments
Enthused with other passions

Breathing on borrowed time
Medicines used to fight time
Suffering the new best friend
Parting with each only while parting

Should they make à
Next set of people on their way
Next door children being birthed
Balance of Equation will play itself out
