Meet Lisa, all of 18
She’s just started college
She hasn’t made any friends yet
So she joins a club
The first event is an outing near the shore
She takes the train with Pierre
A senior, who is also attending the party
The chit-chat and banter
Is better than usual
He is so easy to talk to
A friendship blossoms
She likes his dimples and dreamy eyes
She is falling in you-know-what
“Do you think we could be something?”
Lisa asks as they walk in the park one day
It takes courage to ask Pierre
Who did previously say
He is taking a gap year to work on himself
In other words, no way
The date ends with a hug
Such a sad goodbye
For Lisa, it feels like the end
But then they never even started
Yes, but at least she tried
