Far removed, yet etched deep within.
No! Not even time could mend
when death danced upon a grin.

Days wore your mind and body thin.
Burdensome is this task to witness the end,
But it stays far removed, yet etched deep within.

At life's end where should one begin?
A mom, a dad, a teacher, a friend,
and still death danced upon a grin.

Day to day. I must go on again.
Without you is grueling to comprehend,
so it stays far removed, yet etched deep within.

These thoughts of you sometimes spin;
Making it impossible to pretend
death didn't dance upon a grin.

The love you left is genuine
and on all you've taught I will depend.
The day death danced upon your grin
is far removed, yet etched deep within.
For my mother
