The Big Shelf
One day I will be alone,
a solitary toothbrush in
the glass, lid of the paste
missing and a dental floss
dispenser empty.
Unopened mail on the big
shelf, delft double parked
on the kitchen sink, rusted
clothes pegs on the line, an
overflowing bin.
One day I will be alone, I
will remember everything
about being together, I will
stand shadowless in rays
of the setting sun.
Ps,
The Big Shelf is my
metaphor for the floor.
