Goodnight

Goodnight I say

Goodnight, Goodnight

Goodnight I whisper

As I turn off the light

Goodnight to the moon,

The stars, the sun

Goodnight to my family

And that special someone

Goodnight to the books

That cover the shelves

Goodnight to the lovers

Who hate themselves

Goodnight to the people,

The friends of my past,

Goodnight to the present

And the future at last

Goodnight to the children

Who sleep one last time

And goodnight to the parents

Who whisper them rhymes

Goodnight to this world

And the people within

And I whisper goodnight

As I sleep with its sin
