I keep clawing
My way up
The rough side
Of the mountain
I seem to have
Forgotten
If I chose this
Side of the mountain
Or whether it
Was a mistake
However
I don’t recall
There being another option
All sides were rough
Uneven
Sharp
Sometimes…
Fatal
I have also
Forgotten
What I am climbing for
What I am climbing towards
What awaits me
Up there?
Why do I have to climb?
I would have preferred
To take the stairs
