Non sequitur is Latin for “it does not follow.”
The phrase is used to describe a fallacy or illogical conclusion;
an inference or conclusion that does not follow from the premise.
Non sequitur may also be used to describe a response or comment that bears no connection to what was previously said;
a random remark.
