I like it here
The quiet life
Appeals to me,
Reduces strife
And might just be
A place for me
To stay,
Remain,
Not run away
This time,
Just settle in
Refrain
From feigning
How it all goes wrong
The longer I still write this song
Is little more
Than wishful thinking
Lacking acumen
Or skill
No instrumental
State instilled
I simply try to make it sound
As pleasant to the ear
Is bound
In hearing
Not quite listening
As actively
As whispering
In darkness to yourself
At night
And then from nothing
Something write
