He didn’t have much time
Cancer was killing him him
He had a few good friends who he wanted to see before the end
So they met at Perino’s
My dad was among them
As this good guy going down feted his mates
Graciously and with love
There were smiles through tears
Goodbyes and amens
When your time is ending
Life gets clearer
My dad told this story
It brings a tear to my eyes
Before I go I want to thank my dear friends
We’ll  have dinner at a fine restaurant
Then say our goodbyes
