Did I tell you that once I heard a blackbird sing ? for it had in its beak a golden ring . And upon that ring there lay a crown inlaid with rubies and emeralds all around . And apron that crown I placed upon you’re head was all the words I wish i hadn’t said . For love is so full of hurtful things , that dig into you’re heart like diamond rings .
O I once heard a blackbird sing , It sang to me about all those troubling things . that made you cry , and made you mad , yet you were the most precious gift I ever had .
And that golden ring you wore that blackbird had upon his claw , was tinged with sadness like it was before . for love with all its sins to bear , it’s rugged cross , It’s nails of steel .
So if we hold each other tight , the dreams we held each single night , as we kissed and said good night , our hopes that love could never die .
And as morning broke a blackbird sang , It sang of all the joys and tears we held in our hearts for many years , and we just sat there and filled with sorrow , for the joys and pains of our tomorrows . The poets words they flew away , as we thanked the Lord for another day. And the rose bush that bore the scars , that held the ring , and the rugged crown, a blackbird perched on it for a while , then flew away , and made you smile.
