In all his lifetime
my father never had to
apologise to his family or anyone
for having done something wrong

I wonder why I hate
doing anything wrong
and why after all these years
I have so very little to apologise for

My father said
in thoughtful considerations of others
we augment our dignity and self respect
and leave very very little to apologise for

If we meet again
I will have to tell him
Daddy, I spent years apologising to hundreds and more
that you had to answer to a Higher calling over River Jordan
and me and them are so very sorry that you had to go and leave us
all behind
