A report on 479 whooping cough patients in the U.S. states that 60% of patients had received fewer than 3 doses of the D.P.T. vaccine, while the other 40% of victims had been fully vaccinated (three doses or more).Β Β β βWeekly Report,β Centers for Disease Control, July 2, 1982
Because of the obvious dangers of the whooping cough component of the D.P.T. vaccine, physicians are assuring parents of the "safety" of the other two components of the triple antigen - diphtheria and tetanus (D.T.), although some doctors have a different view. "It is unnecessary to give a routine booster of diphtheria and tetanus vaccine every 10 years... The benefits of the procedure do not justify the risks." (βLancet,β May 11, 1985. A report on a study of 11 healthy individuals to determine the effects of routine tetanus booster vaccinations, showed that the vaccinations weakened the immune system of the recipients. β βNew England Journal of Medicine,β 1984
This vaccine has been shown to cause serious reactions including convulsions, anaphylactoid allergic reactions, serum sickness-like reactions and death. (Pediatrics, 1987, Milstien et al., 80: 270-274.)
A case-control study has shown that 41 percent of meningitis occurred in children vaccinated against the disease. The vaccine's protective efficacy was minus 58 percent.
