Lord descend on us your blessings of Freedom
You have given us wisdom
Yet we have been beaten and torn throughout
Our scars from streaks of whipping thorns
Lord we Slaves pray to the Heavens that we will once be free
This plantation of turmoil makes us want to flee
However, your spirit is wise and strong
Our Faith in believing is where we belong
No matter how long
We have spiritual songs to help us get along
Slavery is totally wrong
It’s those struggles that come along
We Slaves shall rise
The Plantation Owners are in for a surprise
We Slaves are fully energized
But this situation will be puzzled faces with a realize
It’s God’s Heaven I must emphasize
We will see our new sunrise
We Slaves will never have to apologize
Our hope is in the Heavens
Tomorrow will be a wonder
Our Freedom will find us yonder
