I'll paint a canvas today, I said,
A canvas with my tears,
I'll mix the water with my blood,
I'll give voice to my fears.
Leering voices, sneering faces,
I don't know how to stand strong,
I buckle under pressure,
Yet I know the right from wrong.
I look around with despair,
I know not what will be,
I lift my hands up in the air,
I cry, 'Do not see'.
Do not look down at humanity,
Look not at what it's become,
The violence, the inhumanity,
The soul quite numb and dumb.
But see the little sparks of good,
The hope, the kindness, the longing,
See the suffering, little flame,
The bewilderment, pain and calling.
Give strength to the lame and weak,
Salvation to the few,
Let Light and Grace fill the world,
Let us all see You.
