Hey little self o' mine
sweet little girl
You!  My younger, shy self
Yes, it's you I'm talking to

I'd like to say thank you
and tell you not to worry
I built my castle
and my guards are here too
and I'd like you to know that I love it

One more thing you have to know
Nobody now can
bring me there again
to these grounds
that hurt you so

And if you knew, oh if you only knew
how much strength you gave me
compassion and love,
how many times you wiped my eyes with tears of truth
how many times you healed this wounded soul
that always doubts.

And you did all that, just by instilling
inside the ink of these papers
colours of your clear, pure soul.

Like crystal your truth
hard to write
but you made it
for me to be fine

I'd like you to know younger self o' mine
that because,
with eyes of a child
you faced the world,
and consciously decided
eyes not to change
I am now like the light
bold into darkness.

One more thing you have to know
the rewards you reaped
fed other people too
with dreams and hopes
love and truth.

You, now, can be proud
sweet, little self o' mine
Do things so that your future self can be proud.
So that your tomorrow self can say thank you to the yesterday one.
And remember to always, but always, stay loyal to your values and ideals.
