If today I speak
A word that is unkind
I ask that you forgive
Because my thought was blind

If I do not help
When I see you are in need
I ask that you forgive
For this from you I plead

If I see you shed a tear
Which I help you not to dry
I ask that you forgive
If I walk on by

If I speak slanderous words
About you that are not true
I ask that you forgive
That I spoke lies of you

If I cause you pain
And sorrow within your heart
I ask that you forgive
That I hurt that tender part

Whatever I do this day
That hurts another's soul
I ask that you forgive
That I might learn and grow

I do these things each day
And hurt my fellow man
I ask the question why
For I do not understand

Knowing that as such
As I have done to the least of these
I have done it Lord
Done it unto thee
