the reverse effects of recovery
before they tried to fix him
he showed them the cuts
on his hands but
nobody believed he tried
hard enough because
they weren't deep
enough
no one ever learns
everybody goes
looking for the light
that burns the brightest
even if it burns them down
to clean, stripped, charred,
bone.
and no one is sorry
and no one is scared
and everyone is terrified
but no one ever learns
