Why do you shy away from the drops
of rain that fall gently to the ground,
through the sidewalk cracks,
seeping deep into the soil?

The raindrops that help the flowers grow,
the ones that keep the birds hydrated,
those that fill the ocean so it doesn't dry up.

Why are you afraid of something so simple?
If you are afraid to let the rain caress your skin,
how do you expect to be able to let someone in?
