I remember
sitting in the summer sun
having forgotten
the bleak midwinter.
I tried to remember
how the sweat and frost met,
and produced fall and spring.
But could not.
I remembered
when the cold had
engulfed me
and I was holding onto sanity,
I had wondered what
sunshine had felt like.
I remember laying in tears,
wondering what heat felt like,
Now as I lay
in the summer heat,
I wish for the cold to
engulf me once
and forevermore.
