The Residual

He said he’d love her until the end
Of time, his love would never die
He promised that her eyes would never
Because of him sad tears cry

They lived happily and his love
Was true and never strayed
There were women who tried
But his heart was never swayed

One day he came home from work
And something just wasn’t right
Later that evening he went down to the
Kitchen for a snack and he died that night

One of his promises was broken
And sad tears fell like rain
Because it broke her heart and
It was such an unbearable pain

The very next night she was in the
Kitchen and she couldn’t take being apart
She took a kitchen knife and she
Pierced it through her heart

The new owners of the house swear they
See the couple locked in a time perpetual
He walks to get a snack as she pierces
Her heart in what’s known as the residual
