We unfasten from
them, on a paper written
like a poetry writing but
we are still on the
old canoe they shipped
our forebears as slaves,
we befitted not their gown
but forcefully we put on,
Ebony yard is our school
and our home to dwell, and
a promoted honchos from
northern and west damaged
our value and core.
