With no other lover but the quiet of night,
Here you find me in this same old room,
And as raindrops brighten my window light,
A sixty-watt bulb my head illumnes.
Out of the world these past many years,
I have not been ashamed to invite you here.
But still you cannot come too often,
No more than a lover, or a lifelong friend.
