When you’re alone with shadows
The absentee of light
They follow every move you make
If only out of spite
To the core that fades to nothing
To the light that never was
Now circles near the stratosphere
Causing quite the buzz
Created by design
Made to start anew
Raised by our forefathers
To wait and see things through
A faulty case conundrum
Meant to be the cause
Stifling gaze upon us
Waiting for applause
The ovation never comes
Is seldom ever heard
Vocal commentary
Spoken word for word
Distant hands out reaching
For help that never comes
Counting every move we make
Following the sanctity of crumbs
