Carefully hold my well worn soul,
With a smooth and cautious hand.
Give me time to grow and learn,
And seek 'til I understand.

The path has been so long for me,
Filled with confusion and doubt.
And many mute days I've lived in the past,
Before discovering I could shout.

And now I have escaped the bars,
Am soaring without refrain.
And I am sure to make mistakes,
And then make them again.

I ask that you believe in me,
And forgive me as I err.
Because when I finally find myself,
I want you standing there.
