Is it a filter that separates?
Color coded, packaged, secure
Instant defintion of a man
Classified, quantified, sure

Every word is proof
Our ears know this foul language
Their rags a mark
The emblems of a savage

I know my people
Kind, just, and polite
I know their kind
Evil, brutal, a blight

What filters the world?
What filters the flora and fauna?
What determines man from beast?
What defines our brother?
Who is ours?
And who is the other?
Is it language?
Is it color?
Is it age?
Is it culture?

Can a word sum up a man?
Does clothing speak?
Is an idea a mountain, from which you can see?
Can you pick out the tallest, and call him a tree?

Is it a filter that separates?
Color coded, packaged, secure
Instant defintion of a man
Classified, quantified, sure
