broken into pieces
smashed to smithereens
her heart so badly fractured
by a man so mean

he told her he loved her
but yet he told a bold faced lie
and she was left without
a dry eye

an aching pain
she carried for a long time
he'd been untrue to her
his love for her was a mere pantomime

an affair with another woman
had him enthralled
she had this married man
at her beck and call

night after night
alone in utter despair
she had no husband
there to give of his loving care

their relationship
crumbled into a thousand parts
broken and destroyed
is her agonized heart
