Down by the river shore Where old tales come alive It sends shivers down my spine And dreams wither up and die There’s a story of a lovely woman That rises from deep depths And grants fishermen’s wishes That are seldom ever kept She whispers little lies That the fishermen want to hear And she works on their emotions That often stem from fear Her beauty is seductive Her powers well in tune To men that come from all around But leave us way too soon She promises them good fortune That they’d catch fish as big as whales But let this be a warning; A cautionary tale Her veins are filled with venom Her heart rotten to its core She’ll gobble up all the weak And be still left wanting more So beware of where you cast your hooks In lakes, rivers, and streams And be sure not to underestimate The secrets that men keep
