If you’re gonna hold up the Bible,
Hold it up right,
Instead of upside down
And backwards,
To the devil’s delight
Which is an act
That’s only pleasing
In his crooked sight

If you’re gonna hold up the Bible
That you need to read
For some sound guidance
That you ought to heed
Because now is the time
To follow its lead
In order that
Your soul might be freed

If you’re gonna hold the Bible
You oughta stop
It was written to be
A photo op
So posing with one
Is over the top
And you can’t clean that up
With a wet mop

If you’re gonna hold the Bible
And not bother to search
While standing in front of
A storied church
You might wanna go in
To find yourself a perch
Instead of staying outside
As if in a lurch
