Has the thought,
Ever dawned?
He’s been widely rebuked,
And universally scorned
Not to mention the fact
He’s been consistently warned
About the vestiges of power
Which will soon be gone

Has he given even
One second thought
About the things
That his actions have wrought
Or the relief for which
We’ve all sought
I hope these warnings
Won’t be for naught

Has he taken the time
To reflect?
Or does he lack
The raw intellect?
To do more than
Say, “Hey what the heck?”
Without learning how to keep
His ego in check

Has he realized
He isn’t so clever,
That he can defy death?
And live forever
Or, have no regrets,
Not now or ever
Before the Good Lord
Pulls down the lever
