A Leaf's Good-Bye

The warmth of Mother Nature’s hug

Has turned to Jack Frost’s frosty breath

I hang on for dear life

My family vanished

My friends no more

The arctic winds chill my body

Making my once attractive jade skin

Now an unsettling brown

My arms they drain

For I cannot hold on much longer

The last of my kind

I want to set an example

I want to be the hero

But I can’t

My mind has ripened

I have let my people down

But it is time

As I fall I will remember the pleasant times

When I was not alone

But I am alone

The bitter steel ground is calling me

Good-bye Mother Nature
