She was nothing
But an examination
That I failed
Nothing but the only examination
That I ever, ever failed.
For the examination
was a good one
but the problems were many
because she was the one
Nothing but the only examination
That I ever, ever failed.
If the world was a classroom
and life a lesson too many
If I could sweep under a carpet with my broom
Sweep away all my examinations, honey

But then
I only failed
A single exam
And now look at what
I now have become and am.
