I’m sitting here
In deep contemplation
About some things
Affecting our nation
What was normal
Is on vacation
Guess the key
Is for me to be patient

This has changed
The way I think
And here lately
I’ve turned to drink
And maybe that suggests
I’m on the brink
Of having to go see
A good shrink

See it’s hard
To process this
When everything seems
To be amiss
And we all
Might be at risk
I’m hoping that
You get my gist

When  our optimism
Takes a dive
We’ve gotta keep
Hope alive
And that ain’t
No happy talk jive
It’s the best way
For us to survive
